With it, the chance to focus on something incomparably powerful: Love
Love for me is... Oh well what the actual fuck could I possibly write to finish that sentence?
Research says it's an emotion closely connected to intimacy, passion, and commitment. It involves care, closeness, protectiveness, attraction, affection, and trust. 🤷♂️ All of which resonates well with me, except I know love to be much more fierce, uncompromising and unpredictable; and it gives no fucks about time, space or context. Nothing I have ever experienced has made me feel both so uplifted and also so broken ❤️🔥/💔
I would like to think that I have lived a life with a lot of love in it. I also feel like I have a lot of love to give. But… I still don't have the faintest idea how to describe it!
I know love through my closest friends. Through the moments when I laugh so hard I can't breathe. I know it through exploring the world, meeting new people, exploring new places and taking on new projects. Through learning more about life and growing as a person. I know it through romance, sex and falling for a person. I know it through living a life where tomorrow held nothing but hopes, excitement and butterflies of joy and curiosity. I also know it through living a life where I wish that tomorrow never came.
Love has been a best friend, and also my worst enemy. It's both incredibly frightening and hopelessly fascinating.
Together, maybe we can explore this feeling -- this word Love -- more this month? Maybe we will understand it better together? Or simply getting more confused by it?
One thing I do know about love, however, is this:
There can never be enough of it. 🤍🩶🖤
